easyJet flight from London Gatwick to Santorini struggled to land on the island during the night.

easyJet flight #U28253 departed London late this Wednesday, June 12 2024. It departed Gatwick Airport at 18:00 BST.

The 5-year-old A320 (registration G-UZHR) started it’s final approach to runway 33 at 23:20 local time but performed a go around.

The crew then started to hold at 6,000 ft altitude over the airport then climbed to 10,000 ft, on hold for about one hour before attempting another approach, this time on the opposite side to runway 15.

The aircraft finally touched down at 00:35 local time after 4 hours and 30 minutes of flight.

The airline is claiming the flight had a late landing due to strong winds in Santorini preventing the aircraft from arriving and departing. easyJet detailed the flight had to wait for the weather conditions to improve before landing.

Current METAR data show the wind was gusting up to 22 kt from West.
