jet2 flight from London Stansted was forced to go around due to an earthquake.

The popular tourist hotspot Rhodes has been hit by a 4.8-magnitude earthquake that has left residents rocked.

The Greek island was struck down by terrifying tremors on Wednesday night that was also said to have been felt in Turkey.

It was described as a “relatively shallow” quake by seismologists that reached just 51km south of the Dodecanese islands at its peak at around 8:20pm.

At this time, the Jet2 flight #LS1449 was on approach to runway 24 at Rhodes International Airport.

The Boeing 737-800 (registration G-JZBS) performed a go around on its first landing attempt.

The aircraft climbed back to 2,000 ft to attempt a second landing. It landed at 22:35 local time, after 3 hours and 45 minutes of flight.
