Airfield closed for arrival and departure operations till 2300 hrs IST today due to severe weather conditions.
The Chennai airport will not handle any departure or arrival of flights till 11 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 owing to strong winds and waterlogging in the airfield in the wake of Cyclone Michaung.

Many passengers awaiting their flights were stranded for hours as flights could not take off due to gusty wind and rains and also since water from Adyar River had entered the runway.
Ground handlers have been advised to ensure mooring of aircraft and safety of ground support equipments and operating personnel.
UPDATE The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has cancelled all the flights to Chennai till tomorrow morning 9 A.M following heavy rain and water stagnation.
