Airport worker injured as a Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 717 collided with a ground equipment

A Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 717 collided with a ground equipment while taxiing at Kahului Airport in Hawaii.

The Boeing 717-200 with registration N494HA was operating flight HA105 from Kahului to Honolulu, USA with 114 passengers and 5 crew members onboard.

However, while the aircraft was being pushed back from Kahului’s gate 17, the aircraft began to taxi before equipment and ground crew was clear of the aircraft. As a result, the aircraft collided with a tug causing serious injuries to a ramp personnel.

The flight was eventually canceled and the aircraft has been grounded following the incident.

“During pushback operations, aircraft began to taxi before ramp personnel were clear. Aircraft impacted tug causing injury to ramp worker,” stated FAA statement.

The FAA stated that the injury was serious and rated the occurrence an accident.
