A private Antonov An-2 has crashed into trees immediately after takeoff from a grass strip at Vårgårda, Sweden.

The aircraft (reg. SE-KCE), built in 1981 has crashed into trees immediately after getting airborne.

The pilot and 4 passengers survived with only minor injuries.

The pilot Kjell Brattfors said that he has flew this type of aircraft for 30 years and before the flight everything looked normal.

“It was not possible to fly the plane out towards the road, as there was traffic there” he said.

Therefore he decided to try to climb the plane over the treetops in the nearby grove and maintain speed.

After the plane was evacuated, the emergency services began work to secure the site.

The State Accident Commission will investigate the plane.
