Authorities have shut down Gatwick Airport North Terminal, following reports of an incident related to a fire alarm.

London Gatwick’s North Terminal was evacuated Wednesday evening, due to a fire alarm being activated in one of the restaurants, which was quickly contained.

A number of passengers that had not been security screened re-entered the terminal via a fire door into the departure lounge as part of the evacuation process.

To ensure the safety and security of all passengers, everyone within the departure lounge, as well as passengers who had boarded flights, had to be rescreened.

London Gatwick apologises to passengers for any inconvenience. The airport will conduct a thorough investigation to ensure this does not happen again.
