Delta Airlines crew member charged after arrest at Edinburgh Airport as flight cancelled prior to take off.

Delta Airlines confirmed that one of its staff, a 61-year-old man, was taken into custody at around 10am on June 16.

The flight, which was due to travel to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, was cancelled and customers were re-accommodated on alternative journeys.

Delta Airlines pulled the service leaving passengers stranded after the man, 61, was lifted minutes ahead of departure to New York JFK airport.

An airline spokesperson said: “Delta confirms that one of its crew was taken into custody this morning at EDI Airport. Delta is assisting the authorities with their ongoing enquiries.

A police spokesperson confirmed the pilot was arrested in connection with the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003, which sets the legal limit for a pilot’s blood alcohol level at 0.02, compared to 0.08 for driving.
