The FBI is looking for an alleged helicopter thief, who tried to steal a helicopter.
The incident happened at Sacramento Executive Airport in California.
A person tried to steal a helicopter from a California airport Wednesday and crashed the aircraft in the attempt, officials said.
The trespasser broke into several choppers at Sacramento Executive Airport in the state capital between 4 and 6 a.m.; when police officers arrived on the scene, they found one “that had been operated with major damage,” the Sacramento Police Department said.
Police said the alleged thief attempted to start four helicopters parked on the tarmac.
The FBI, which is investigating the incident with the police department, said the preliminary investigation has found at least one “person of interest” and could not confirm whether others were involved.
