Following the official declaration of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet project’s demise in February, the Japanese aircraft manufacturer has started scrapping the first Mitsubishi MRJ90/SpaceJet M90 aircraft right beside the runway at Moses Lake Grant County International Airport.
The Japanese aircraft manufacturer decided to scrap the programme itself due to viability issues. According to reports, the aircraft which is being scrapped had registration JA21MJ and was manufactured in 2015.
Footage shared on the internet shows the first aircraft in a state of disarray, with its fuselage split in half just behind the wings. The aft section and empennage are seen lying on the ground.

The first test aircraft with registration JA21MJ last flew on May 12, 2020. The company moved the first M90 to Moses Lake in 2016 and said it planned to base four aircraft there. Four other MRJ/SpaceJets have been out of service since early 2020 and are located at Moses Lake.
