Authorities say they have located the mother of an infant girl who was found Sunday night at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the girl, who is believed to be about 10 months old, came to the airport at about 9 p.m. via the Metro Transit light rail with a woman “in crisis” who is likely not related to the girl or her legal guardian.
According to airport officials, the woman and child were taken to separate medical facilities for medical evaluation, and the child was taken into custody of Hennepin County Child Protective Services.
Wednesday morning, the BCA said the child had been identified and her mother had been found safe.
“Thank you to everyone who shared this alert and to all who provided information that helped investigators identify the child and locate her relatives,” the BCA said.
MSP Airport representative Jeff Lea said the BCA alert was instrumental in helping airport police locate the mother of the child.
