The U.S. is expected to ban Russian planes from its airspace.

According the the WSJ, following similar prohibitions by European and Canadian authorities, the United States are preparing to close its airspace to Russian flights.

An order barring Russian-owned and -operated aircraft from U.S. airspace is expected to be issued as soon as within the next 24 hours.

The European Union is speaking to U.S. counterparts about extending a ban on Russian flights, it said on Tuesday, as it gave more details of the EU’s closure of airspace to Russian aircraft imposed after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

United Airlines and United Parcel Service (UPS) said on Tuesday they had suspended flying over Russian airspace, joining other major U.S. carriers Delta Air Lines and American Airlines.
