Etihad Airways became the first airline in the world to vaccinate all onboard crew members. The airline also claimed that 75% of its employees had received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The employees were vaccinated through the airline’s “Protected Together” vaccination campaign. The airline began offering in-house appointments to its employees and their loved ones in December, and the vaccination began last month.

In a press release, released by the airline on Wednesday, Etihad Aviation Group’s CEO Tony Douglas said:

“We proactively made the vaccine available to all our employees to not only help combat the effects of COVID-19 but to make travellers feel confident and reassured the next time they fly with us.”

“We are the only airline in the world to make COVID-19 testing mandatory for every passenger and crew member before every flight, and now, we’re the first airline in the world with 100% vaccinated crew on board.”

The UAE government is reportedly aiming to vaccinate half of its population by the end of March.
