British Airways has said that it will reduce its operations in November due to the new lockdown in England, announced earlier this week.

The British flag carrier will ground more aircraft and will also furlough many more staff due to this new lockdown. In addition, the airline will also suspend all flights from London Gatwick.

In a statement, British Airways spokesperson said:

“Following the Government’s announcement of a new national lockdown for England last Saturday, we have been urgently reviewing our schedule for November.”

“Our focus is on keeping crucial air links open – bringing home the thousands of customers currently abroad, transporting vital goods, and ensuring people who are permitted to travel in and out of the UK for work, education and other reasons stipulated by the UK Government, can continue to do so.”

British Airways has also closed its Heathrow lounges from Thurday, November 5th, during the second lockdown. Regarding this, the airlines’ spokesperson said:

“Due to the UK Government’s national restrictions, our lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5 will be temporarily closed from November 5. We will continue to follow government guidance and keep our customers updated with any changes.”
