United to launch world’s 4th longest route

United said Thursday that it has plans for Houston-Sydney service, an 8,596-mile flight that means the carrier will operate the three longest flights offered by a U.S. airline, as well as the fourth-, fifth- and sixth-longest flights in the world.

The service, aboard a Boeing 787-9 seating 252 passengers, will begin Jan. 18.
