Berlin Tegel Airport airport was closed for hours due to the disarming of a WW2 bomb.

A Russian World War Bomb was discovered at around 3.30 pm yesterday near Berlin Tegel Airport. In the afternoon, the specialists decided to disarm explosive device in the evening.

During the operation, no aircrafts were allowed to land or takeoff at Berlin Tegel Airport from approximately 8 pm.

More than 40 aircraft had to divert to Berlin Schönefeld Airport.

According to the spokesman, Tegel Airport has been shut down for about three hours on Tuesday evening. After the suspension was lifted, the night flight ban had been lifted in consultation with the authorities, in order to be able to handle all aircraft.
