BREAKING A 16-year-old boy has been arrested at Stansted Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences

A teenager has been arrested at Stansted Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences.

Officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit, working with Counter Terrorism Policing South East, arrested the boy yesterday.

The teenager, from the Kent area, was due on a flight leaving the UK.

He was arrested around 4pm on suspicion of collection of information which is likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

He is in police custody and was detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).
