Former Playboy model Victoria Bonya, 37, said she was questioned by officers at an airport in Los Angeles.

Ms Bonya said: ‘That was a real blow. I thought I was going down and they would deport me.

She added the officers asked her about Russian president Vladimir Putin and took her aside after they found a business card for a company that produces hidden video cameras in her luggage.

‘Finding out everything about my position, he started talking about the KGB.’

Ms Bonya, who is based in Monte Carlo in Monaco, added: ‘I started laughing, as I really thought it was a joke, until they asked me the same thing for a third time.’

The presenter shared the story online and her followers responded with their own experiences of the US customs service.
