Thomson Airways flight has been forced to divert to Gatwick after being hit by lightning.

The 737 was flying from Manchester to Morocco when it was forced to make an emergency landing after being hit by a bolt of lightning at 6:42 last night.

It had been an hour into the flight when they made the unexpected landing.

Currently unclear how many passengers were on board the plane at the time of the incident. It is also unclear if anyone was injured. The flight resumed at 10pm
