NEWS Flybe Unveils Southampton Summer Schedule for 2016

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has started operating its 2016 Summer Schedule with a choice of 31 routes including five new destinations. The expanded schedule includes new routes to Paris Charles de Gaulle, Munich and Lyon all of which offer convenient daily flights, as well as improved frequency for those travelling to regional French and throughout the UK.

The airline’s new affordable, year round daily flights between Southampton and Munich will start on 29th June offering a flight time of just 2hr 20m. Munich is one of Germany’s main commercial and industrial centres, with excellent transport connections for onward travel throughout Europe. The route is expected to prove popular with both business and leisure travellers alike. 

The newly introduced Southampton – Paris Charles de Gaulle route is in addition to Flybe’s already well established twice daily service to Paris Orly airport, so boosting air links to Paris to three flights a day. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport offers excellent transport links to Disneyland Paris which is just over ten minutes away via high speed train; travel to the centre of Paris in just 30 minutes, or take advantage of onward connections to the rest of the world.  

Customers also have the choice of up to three Flybe flights a week to Toulon on the Mediterranean coast, and Biarritz on the Basque coast, both of which are brand new routes from Southampton. The Summer Schedule also includes in an increase in flights to La Rochelle, Brest and Bergerac.

The upgrades to the airlines’ Southampton services offers 728 extra flights per week out of that airport. The airline have also announced an increase in frequencies to Glasgow, Manchester & La Rochelle up to 5 and 6 times per week accordingly. Flights to Bergerac are also up too 11 flights per week with the Paris Orly frequencies to be increased to 2x flights per day!

Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s Chief Revenue Officer comments: “We have expanded our summer schedule by increasing regional connectivity to Europe in particular for our Southampton customers with time saving, affordable, punctual travel to a wide choice of attractive destinations. Many of the routes we will be operating are specifically scheduled to attract those looking for reasonably-priced, convenient day returns and short breaks.”

Managing Director of Southampton Airport, Dave Lees, adds: “The summer season is always an exciting time for us and we are thrilled to be able to offer such a wide variety of destinations for our passengers with Flybe this year. With routes to Alicante, Malaga, Palma, Faro and Corsica as well as some brand new routes to Toulon, Biarritz Lyon and Paris Charles De Gaulle, there are plenty of fantastic locations to choose from. Whether people are looking for a relaxing week on the beach in Portugal, a long weekend walking around the white washed villas of Spain or a surf holiday in the sun in France, they can reach it all from their local airport.”

In addition, Flybe’s successful Manchester hub, to which passengers can now fly up to six times a day from Southampton, has become increasingly popular with those deciding to bypass congested London airports to make more seamless onward connections. Using the hub as a convenient ‘One Stop to the World’ proposition, this can be either onward with other Flybe regional services or farther afield to an extensive selection of long haul destinations through its various codeshare partners, when booked via a travel agent.
