NEWS Ryanair to close Italian bases over tax increase

PlanespottersNet_045464Low-cost carrier (LCC) Ryanair will close two bases in Italy and stop services to another Italian destination completely over an increase in the country’s municipal tax. The Ireland-based LCC intends to close its bases at Alghero at Pescara from September, as well as cease services to Crotone, over a Jan. 1 rise in the tax from €6.50 to €9 ($7.3 to $10) for each passenger departing Italy.
