A San Diego bound flight was forced to make an emergency decent this evening because of a pressurisation problem.
Delta flight #DL5749 took off about 7:30pm and was a routine climb to cruising altitude of 18,000 feet when the pilots noticed the malfunction.
The pilots investigated the problem and was discovered that the malfunction was caused by one of the doors on the Embraer 175 twin-jet plane.
The pilots did a rapid decent to 14,000 feet as a safety precaution and started heading back to Sea-Tac.
As the aircraft doesn’t have the capabilities to dump fuel, the pilots had to circle north of Sea-Tac airport to burn fuel for a more lighter and safer landing.
The jet landed without incident just before 9pm.
