Jetstar A320 VH-VFH on flight JQ978 from Cairns to Perth was climbing out of Cairns when the crew reported bird strike. They stopped the climb at 6,000ft and returned to Cairns for a safe landing 30 minutes after departure.
Flight was cancelled and passengers rebooked onto other flights.
The A320 is still on the ground and is taken out of service for the time being.
