BREAKING Supersonic RAF Typhoons scrambled to intercept aircraft heading for London

A ‘sonic boom’ has been heard over London and parts of central England as the RAF Typhoons broke the sound barrier.

A team of Royal Air Force Typhoons have been scrambled over skies in the UK to intercept an aircraft which lost radio signal as it hurtled towards London this afternoon (March 4).

People heard a loud bang across the UK as the aircraft broke the sound barrier.

A flight tracking map shows the Dash 8 Aircraft heading towards London Stansted Airport.

The flight is reported to have ‘landed safely’ at London Stansted Airport.

The RAF tanker which was also scrambled to the scene can be seen on a flight tracker circling over the North Sea just off the Norwich coast.
