A Su-27 fighter jet flew back to Ukraine escorted by two Mig-21s after it landed in Romania few days ago

The Ukrainian Su-27 that landed in Romania a few days ago has returned home.

On Feb. 24, 2022, during the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 was intercepted by two Romanian F-16 after it entered Romania’s airspace .

The aircraft was fully loaded with Air-to-Air Missiles. It was escorted to the RoAF 95th Air Base in the northeastern Romanian city of Bacău.

According to the Romanian Air Force, After landing, the Ukrainian military pilot was made at the disposal of the Romanian authorities.

According to reports, the aircraft had flown towards Romania after it lost communication with its homebase, under heavy attack by Russian forces.

The Su-27 returned to Ukraine on Mar. 1 without its missiles in accordance with the international legislation.

The aircraft took off from Bacau performing a wing wave, escorted by MiG-21 LanceR jets that escorted the Ukrainian fighter to the border of the Romania.

It’s not clear where the aircraft headed when it entered the Ukrainian airspace, completely unarmed.
