The US Navy’s first Black female fighter pilot has earned her wings.

Lt. j.g. Madeline Swegle completed the Tactical Air (Strike) aviator syllabus.

According to the Navy, Swegle is currently assigned to the Redhawks of Training Squadron (VT) 21 at Naval Air Station Kingsville in Texas.

The photo that accompanied the Navy tweet celebrating Swegle’s historic achievement was taken following her final flight in the Tactical Air (Strike) program, a flight taken in a T-45C Goshawk training aircraft.
