ATLANTA — Two Delta Air Lines flight attendants were injured on Monday after their aircraft encountered a sudden bout of turbulence mid-flight, officials confirmed.

Delta Flight DL1820 was traveling from Liberia, Costa Rica, to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Monday, October 12, 2026. According to flight data, the Boeing 737-900ER (registration N820DN) was cruising smoothly at an altitude between 34,000 and 35,000 feet when it hit a pocket of moderate turbulence lasting approximately 10 seconds.

The sudden shift in flight conditions caught cabin crew members mid-service, causing two flight attendants to lose their balance and fall inside the aisle. One of the flight attendants sustained an injury to her tailbone during the fall.

Despite the brief disturbance, the flight crew maintained control of the aircraft, and the flight safely continued on its planned route to Georgia. The Boeing landed at Atlanta’s airport without further incident roughly 3 hours and 30 minutes after taking off from Liberia.
