KLM flight rushes to Manchester as passenger dies on board then climbs to return body to Amsterdam

KLM flight from Amsterdam to Vancouver declared an emergency and returned to Amsterdam due to medical reason.

On December 7th, 2023, flight #KL681 to Vancouver declared an emergency over UK.

The Airbus A330-200 departed Amsterdam runway 24 one hour late at 12:10 CET.

About one hour in the air, the crew asked if there was a doctor on board. A passenger offered his help started to assist a sick male passenger.

The crew later asked for a second doctor and another passenger rose to the occasion.

The pilots declared an emergency (squawk 7700) and contacted ATC. They announced to the passengers that the flight was diverting to Manchester.

As the Airbus A330 started descent to 15,000 ft heading to Manchester, the captain announced that a passenger deceased and the flight was finally returning to Amsterdam.

The plane climbed to 27,000 ft, headed to Amsterdam where it landed on runway 18R at 16:29 CET.

KLM then decided to cancel the flight to Vancouver. Passengers had to find their own lodging and buy food.
