Serious incident at Stuttgart Airport, Germany when two planes lost safe separation distance

A Boeing 737 and an Airbus A321 lost security separation distance at Stuttgart Airport, Germany.

On October 23rd, 2023, a Sun Express flight from Antalya was attempting to land on runway 07 at Stuttgart Airport while a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul was cleared for take off.

The Sun Express Boeing 737-800 (reg. TC-SOR) performed a go around when pilots noticed the Turkish Airlines Airbus A321 (reg. TC-JSZ) still on the runway.

Pilots of the Boeing 737 performing flight #XQ154 initiated a go-around and turned to the north.

According to The Aviation Herald, closest proximity was 0,9 nm lateral and 300 ft h vertical distance.

Germany’s BFU is investigating the occurrence rated as “serious incident due to the loss of separation”.
