Emirates A380 #EK19 surrounded by emergency services upon landing at Manchester Airport following a bomb threat

Following a bomb threat, an Airbus A380 has been held at the end of runway upon landing at Manchester.

The flight #EK19 set off from Dubai Airport at 2.30pm local time on Tuesday, October 17, and arrived at Manchester Airport shortly after 7pm.

As the plane landed it was greeted by Greater Manchester Police and the fire service on the runway.

Police have confirmed the reason why an Emirates plane was swarmed by emergency services after landing at Manchester Airport.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were made aware of an email claiming a suspicious package was onboard the flight.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 7:20pm this evening (Tuesday 17 October) Greater Manchester Police were made aware of an email claiming there was a suspicious package on a flight. The aircraft had landed at Manchester Airport and was held for further assessment.

“Searches and security checks have been completed, and no suspicious items have so far been found. Passengers have now disembarked the aircraft with extra officers on hand to answer any questions and offer visible reassurance.
