Flight UA510 from Newark to Rome was forced to return due to a technical issue.

United Airlines flight UA510 departed from Newark at 09:20 EDT to Rome FCO.

The Boeing 777-200ER climbed to 37,000 ft but less than 1 hour into the flight, pilots noticed a technical issue.

The 26 year-old aircraft (reg. N786UA) suffered a cabin depressurization. The crew decided to descend to 9,000 ft.

The plane entered a holding pattern South of Halifax before taking the decision to return to New York.

Holding FL90, the flight took more than 2h to reach Newark and landed on runway 4L.

UPDATE A replacement aircraft (reg. N78001) departed Newark at 02:55 EDT, Estimated to Arrive 6 Hours 24 Minutes Late.
