Antonov An-24 damaged on landing in Yakutsk, Russia

On 17th August 2023, a Polar Airlines Antonov An-24 suffered a damaged tire on its right main gear during taxiing at Yakutsk International Airport in Russia.

The Antonov An-24 with registration RA-47321 was operating flight RKA210 from Batagay to Yakutsk. However, while it was taxiing to its parking stand, it was damaged by the chassis during the steering after landing.

There were 35 people on board flight RKA210, including four crew members.

“On August 17, 2023, at night, during the steering after landing of the An-24 aircraft of JSC Polar Airlines, which was on a passenger flight on the Batagay-Yakutsk route, there was a rupture of the pneumatics of the right chassis rack,” said a spokesperson.

It was during the routine maneuver that the right main gear tire suffered significant damage, resulting in a rupture of the pneumatics in the right chassis rack.

This event prompted the involvement of the Yakut Transport Prosecutor’s Office, which promptly initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
