Mexican airline Aeromexico said the fuselage of a plane scheduled to fly from Culiacan, Sinaloa to Mexico City was hit by gunfire Thursday morning.

The Aeromexico Connect E-190 (reg. XA-ALW) performing flight #AM165 came under gunfire while in its take-off run at Culiacan Airport, Mexico.

Bullets penetrated the aircraft. At the time an armed standoff erupted in the terminal when drug lord Ovidio Guzman, son of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, had been arrested by polìce.

Videos on social media show passengers shelter on Aeromexico plane during the shooting.
