Fire crews have responded to an incident at Tauranga Airport.

Passengers have been evacuated from a plane.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand confirm they have been on the scene at the airport.

The  Havilland Canada Dash 8-300 (reg. ZK-NEZ) has been evacuated due to smoke alarm.

“We have been on the scene at Tauranga Airport regarding an incident on a plane,” says northern fire communications shift manager Mark Richards.

“All our units have now been stood down and it is in the hands of Crash Fire.”
