INCIDENT Russian MC-21 prototype overran the end of the runway after a test flight

The Irkut MC-21 prototype (73051) overran the runway of the Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region.

The footage shows the plane standing outside the runway. The incident happened today for an unknown reason.

However a source said the roll-out occurred during maneuvers on the runway.

There were no casualties and the degree of damage to the aircraft is being established.

The MC-21 aircraft performed an experimental flight with test pilots.

The MC-21-300 aircraft (001, tail number 73051) is the first copy of the new Russian MC-21 aircraft for flight tests.

Equipped with PW1400G-JM engines. It made its first flight on May 28, 2017.
